Sangeeth Wijesuriya, with his instantly recognizable divine voice and extraordinary musical versatility, has emerged as one of the most influential and beloved figures in the modern Sri Lankan music industry. For over three decades, he has captivated the hearts of music enthusiasts across the country by seamlessly blending Sri Lankan folk traditions with Indian and Western classical influences to create timeless, high quality music. Sangeeth’s journey to stardom began in 1989 when he claimed the top spot in a prestigious singing competition. Soon after, he burst onto the music scene with his first electric band, Sa Ni Dha Pa, and quickly became a household name—his rise to fame nothing short of inevitable. Throughout his illustrious career, Sangeeth has not only solidified as an iconic singer, but also has also proven his mettle as a prominent music director, entertainer, and actor. As a visionary leader, Sangeeth founded his latest band, Wayo, and has since taken it to remarkable heights. Leading by example, he serves as a mentor and inspiration to his fellow musicians, embodying the qualities of a true leader. Known for his exceptional skills as a classical and flamenco guitarist, Sangeeth recently earned his Grade 8 certification from Trinity Guildhall, setting new standards for aspiring musicians to follow.
