Presented by We Love The 80’s
Strange Advance and Spoons, those 80’s new wave legends play BC together for the first time!
Armed with Gold Records, hit songs and Juno nominations, they will take you back to the best days of your lives.
Spoons are a hit-making machine with songs like Nova Heart, Tell No Lies, Old Emotions, Romantic Traffic etc. Their history with Strange Advance goes back to the mid 80’s when the 2 bands toured together and continues to this day with Strange Advance contributing their version of Nova Heart to ‘Echoes’, a new CD of various artists covering Spoons songs.
Strange Advance brought their album and song Worlds Away to the world in 1982 winning over fans like Neil Peart (Rush) and Annie Lennox (Eurythmics). 3 more studio albums followed with hits like We Run, She Controls Me, Love Becomes Electric etc. They are joined by visual artist Tim Hill (Skinny Puppy) who masterfully translates SA’s music into a feast for the eyes using projections and lasers.
Special Guest, Kon Kan (Barry Harris) joins SA for a one time performance of ‘I Beg Your Pardon’, another massive 80’s hit!
Drew Arnott, co-founder of Strange Advance, has played Massey Theatre many times, the last being in 1972(!) as a percussionist with the NWSS Senior Band! “I can’t wait to see old friends and bandmates!” says Drew who grew up in New Westminster. Drew plans to donate half of the night’s profits to the NWSS Band Program!
If you love the 80’s, this is the show to see!
